The California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement released a revised and updated Healthy Workplaces / Healthy Families Act poster. The revised poster reflects previously reported amendments to the state’s paid sick leave. As a reminder, employees can now use paid sick leave for the following additional reasons:

      • Serving on a jury.
      • Appearing in court as a witness in response to a subpoena or other court order.
      • Obtaining relief related to a qualifying act of violence (eg, a restraining order) to help ensure the health, safety, or welfare of the employee or their child.
      • The diagnosis, care, treatment, or preventive care of an existing health condition for the employee or a family member.
      • Attending judicial proceedings or related proceedings when the employee or their family member is a victim of certain violent or serious crimes.
      • Obtaining specific victim-related treatment and services (for employees of employers with 25 or more employees).

Employers must provide the poster to non-exempt employees upon hire, and the poster must be displayed in a location frequented by employees where it may be easily read during the workday.
