The Ministry of Digitalisation and Gender Equality presented the bill at the beginning of November. The bill suggests that the proposed changes will come into force on 1 January 2025.
The Ministry of Digitalisation and Gender Equality has sent a draft bill for consultation. The proposal introduces simplifications to the Gender Equality Act in order to facilitate administration in the public sector.
The bill has been sent for consultation, but has not yet been introduced in the Danish Parliament.
Proposal
- The main aim of the bill is to facilitate administration in the public sector.
- The proposal suggests that ministries, governmental bodies, and public enterprises will no longer be obligated to provide updates on their gender equality efforts.
- Additionally, it recommends that a balanced composition of women and men should be sought on boards and other collective management bodies and at top management levels in institutions, companies etc in the public sector, if there are 50 employees or more.
Timing
The bill is expected to be introduced in the Danish Parliament during fall. If it is adopted, it will enter into force on 1 January 2025.
