- On 25 October 2024, the government published a bill amending the rules on taking sick leave and clarifying how a sick note’s proper use may be verified.
- Among other provisions, the bill stipulates that employees will lose the right to sick leave if they reside at an address other than the one indicated on the sick note as their place of residence. The employer will also gain new rights to verify the appropriate use of sick notes (ie to request the Social Insurance Institution to carry out checks at the sick employee’s place of stay).
