  • The right to time off took effect on January 1, 2025.

The California CRD recently released guidance and a 'Survivors of Violence and Family Members of Victims Right to Leave and Accommodations' notice model notice for employees who are victims of violence or abuse and wish to take time off under a new law that took effect on January 1, 2025.

Both documents are available on the CRD website.

Employers must provide the notice to workers when hired, annually, upon request and to any worker who informs the employer that they are a victim of violence or the family member of a victim of violence.
