Update 20 June 2024

The process of amending the Act on Assistance for Ukrainian Citizens has been completed. The amendment has already been signed by the President and will come into force on 1 July 2024.

The amendment on the Act on Assistance for Ukrainian Citizens (Act) provides for many changes in relation to the current content of the Act. For employers, the following two are the most important:

  • The legal stay of Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland as a result of the war or holding residence permits whose validity expired after 24 February 2022 will be extended until 30 September 2025.
  • The time limit for employers hiring Ukrainian citizens to submit a notification of work assignment to the relevant labour office has been shortened. Now, employers have seven days from the beginning of the work assignment to do so, instead of 14 days.

The legislative process is still underway, but according to the wording of the bill, the changes are expected to come into effect on 1 July 2024.
