On 30 March 2022, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed into law Senate Bill 5761, requiring employers with 15 or more employees to affirmatively disclose salaries or salary ranges in job postings. SB 5761 amends the state’s wage disclosure provisions to remove the requirement that employers provide the minimum wage or salary information upon request and replace it with a requirement that employers disclose wage scales or salary ranges as well as a general description of the benefits offered in job postings for specific available positions. The law defines “posting” as any solicitation intended to recruit job applicants for a specific available position, including recruitment done directly by an employer or indirectly through a third party, and includes any postings done electronically, or with a printed hard copy, that includes qualifications for desired applicants.
