Higher minimum wage requirements for immigrants

The Swedish government has decided to raise the income requirement for labour immigrants. The current requirement entails that anyone coming to Sweden from a non-EU / EEA country to work must have a minimum wage of SEK 13,000 (EUR 1,300) per month to be granted a work permit. However, from 1 October 2023 the requirement will be raised to SEK 26,560 (EUR 2,660). The government is also making an assessment of which professions that will be exempt from the income requirement and has announced that when the review is complete, the intention is to raise the income requirement again to SEK 33,200 (EUR 3,320).
