- To encourage equity between men and women in the workplace, on 20 September 2023, Law 14.682/2023 was published which created the Women's Friendly Company seal (Empresa Amiga da Mulher).
The purpose of a Women's Friendly Company seal is to help identify businesses which adopt practices aimed at the professional inclusion of females who are victims of domestic and family violence.
Under article two of this new law, a Women's Friendly Company seal will be awarded to companies which meet a minimum of two of the following requirements:
- A minimum of 2% of the workforce is reserved in order to hire women who are victims of domestic and family violence, with anonymity of the situation guaranteed;
- There is a policy in place which encourages women to take on senior management positions;
- Educational practices are adopted which promote women's rights and prevent domestic and family violence, in accordance with the law;
- Equal pay between men and women is guaranteed, in accordance with Article 461 of the Consolidation of Labour Laws, approved by Decree-Law No.5,452, of 1 May 1943.
A Women's Friendly Company seal is valid for a minimum of two years, and it is renewable for the same period on an ongoing basis, as long as the company can prove that they continue to meet the legal and regulator criteria.
