  • On 6 November 2024, the government of Newfoundland and Labrador proposed job protected leave amendments to the Labour Standards Act.
  • If passed, the amendments will entitle employees to up to 27 weeks per year of job-protected leave for long-term illness, long-term injury, or organ donation, or 104 weeks if the illness or injury is the result of a criminal offence.
