  • As of 17 October 2023, new rules apply which are aimed at strengthening prevention, and fighting, of gender-based harassment and moral harassment in the workplace.
  • The new rules arise under a new Government Decision, no. 970/2023 (Government Decision).

A recent Government Decision has implemented new rules targeting gender-based harassment and moral harassment in the workplace. The new rules take effect from 17 October 2023.

Under the new rules, employers’ obligations in relation to workplace harassment are slightly reshaped. The new provisions establish, amongst other things, that employers have an obligation to put a methodology in place within the company which covers the prevention, and fighting, of gender-based harassment and moral harassment in the workplace.

Employers should now take steps to assess their existing rules / procedures / policies to establish if any adjustments are required to meet the requirements of the new rules.
