The Norwegian Government has adopted amendments to the Norwegian regulations on working from home (often referred to as the home office regulation). The changes will be effective from 1 July 2022 and includes:

  • the general rules regarding working hours in the Norwegian Working Environment will be applicable for home working;
  • a clarification of when the home office regulation applies;
  • an exception from the requirement for a home working written agreement when it is ordered or recommended by the authorities;
  • a clarification that requirements to the psycho-social work environment also apply when the employee works from home; and
  • that the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority is given the authority to supervise the home office regulation. This does however not mean that the Authority will carry out inspections in the employee's home.
