Effective from 12 October 2025, Romania has amended its Labour Code to strengthen support for working parents of children with disabilities. The new provisions allow eligible employees to request up to eight remote working days per month, doubling the generally applicable allowance of four days per month for parents caring for children up until the age of 11. Additionally, parents caring for two or more children with disabilities can work an extra two remote days per child. This entitlement is conditional on the nature of the employee’s role being suitable for remote work and requires submission of the child’s disability certificate. The change marks a significant step forward in promoting workplace flexibility and inclusivity.
