  • On 14 September 2023, The Danish Ministry of Employment submitted, for consultation, a draft bill which amends the Act on Working Time.

The draft bill proposes that the representatives of the main labour market parties in Denmark can come to an agreement which implements and exemption clause in the Working Time Directive which permits employees to work for more than 48 hours on average per week, where this is agreed upon by the employee and employer.

The bill also proposes that employers must introduce a reliable, available and objective time recording system that makes it possible to measure the daily working hours of each employee concerned.

If the bill is adopted, the amendments will come into force on 1 January 2024.
