  • In Colombia, Law 2102 of 2021established a reduction in the working week as of 15 July 2023.
  • There will be a gradual reduction that continues until July 2026.

In Colombia, Law 2101 of 2021 established a reduction in the working week as of 15 July 2023. In 2023, therefore, the working week must meet the threshold of 47 hours.

On this basis, weekly working time will remain at 47 hours per week from 15 July 2023, until 14 July 2024, which means that any additional hours worked will be considered as overtime.

The gradual implementation of this reduction will be as follows:

Date Weekly working hours
15 July 2023 47 hours
15 July 2024 46 hours
15 July 2025 44 hours
15 July 2026 42 hours

The gradual reduction of working hours does not affect the maximum number of overtime hours allowed by law. Under the Colombian Labour Code, overtime (day or night) must not exceed two hours per day and 12 hours per week.
