  • Spain’s Labour Inspectorate has announced its strategic plan for the years 2025 to 2027, outlining key priorities and initiatives.
  • The plan covers labour rights, organisational modernisation, and alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • The plan has a three-year duration, with a mid-term review in 2026 and final evaluation in 2027.
  • The key focus of the Labour Inspectorate's plan is worker protection, equality, transparency, and technological innovation.

Spain’s Labour and Social Security Inspectorate has launched a comprehensive strategic plan to guide its operations from 2025 to 2027. The initiative responds to major structural reforms, most notably Royal Decree-law 32/2021, alongside the digital transformation of work and the imperative to enforce new labour regulations. It also aligns with Spain’s commitment to the Agenda 2030 SDGs.

There are two axis' to the strategic plan. Axis 1 focuses on Inspector activity, putting people at the centre. Axis 1 prioritises worker protection through ten objectives:

  • Guaranteed labour rights through stability, fair wages and regulated hours.
  • Strengthened roles for support worker representatives, particularly in regard to compliance.
  • Ensure the health and safety of workers by preventing accidents and occupational diseases.

Promote equality and inclusion by addressing discrimination across gender, LGBT+, disability, ethnicity, and age.

Integrate gender perspective and tackle wage gaps and harassment.

  • Enforce employment promotion laws through monitoring subsidies and training.
  • Expose hidden employment and target digital platforms and false self-employment.
  • Combat extreme precarity and forced labour by collaborating with law enforcement and non-governmental organisations.
  • Inspect Social Security compliance in regard to contributions and fraud prevention.
  • Foster international cooperation by strengthening global labour standards.

The second axis focuses on organisational excellence. It is based on making internal improvements.
