The Chief Executive in Council has adopted the recommendation of the Minimum Wage Commission on revising the SMW rate from HKD40 per hour to HKD42.10 per hour. Subject to the approval of the Legislative Council, the revised SMW rate will come into force on 1 May 2025.
If the revised SMW rate is approved, the monthly monetary cap for employers to record the total hours worked by employees during a wage period will be increased from HKD16,300 to HKD17,200 per month, effective on the same date as the revised SMW rate.
