Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development has announced a comprehensive maternity support programme for Emirati women employed in the private sector. The initiative offers up to 90 days of paid leave, with financial support of up to AED 15,000 per month. To qualify, applicants must meet three conditions: both parents must hold an Abu Dhabi Family Book, the mother must work in the private sector, and the newborn must have an Emirates ID. Applications must be submitted via the TAMM platform within 30 days of childbirth.
In addition, the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority will cover pension contributions for both employee and employer during a further 30-day unpaid leave period. Participation in the scheme is optional for private sector employers.
Complementing the leave support, a new home visiting service has been introduced for first-time Emirati parents in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. Delivered by the Awnak team, the service offers postnatal care including newborn guidance, health support, and specialised assistance for children of determination. Applications must be made through the Medeem digital platform between early pregnancy and two weeks post-birth. All caregivers must hold valid nursing or midwifery certification from the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, with visit frequency tailored to individual needs.
