On 1 July, the minimum wage was increased for a second time in 2024. The new minimum wage for full-time employees is PLN4,300 (approx. EUR1,000) per month.
There was also an increase to the minimum remuneration rate for contractors, who will now receive at least PLN28.10 (approx. EUR6.50) per hour of service provided.
It is worth noting that the increase to the minimum wage will have an impact on other benefits which are received by employees. Due to the new minimum wage, the following payments will also increase:
- downtime remuneration (the time of non-performance of work, if the employee was ready to perform the work and unexpected events occurred which made it impossible to perform the work);
- the guaranteed remuneration (payments when an employee is incapable of work);
- compensation for unequal treatment; and
- compensation for mobbing or for the termination of an employment contract by an employee as a result of mobbing.
The allowance for night work will also increase and should be calculated at a rate of an additional 20% of the hourly rate set by the minimum wage. The night work allowance applies to work which is done between the hours of 9pm and 7am.
