The Finnish Parliament issued an amendment on holiday compensation taking effect on employment relationships that end on or after 1 January 2024.
According to the new regulation, receiving holiday compensation may postpone the start of eligibility for income-related unemployment allowance. This means that vacation pay in the amount of one month's salary postpones the start of entitlement to income-related unemployment benefit by around one month.
Before this amendment, vacation pay had no effect on the start of entitlement to income-related unemployment benefit.
