- The government has confirmed that it will not meet the 7 June 2026 deadline for implementation of the Gender Pay Transparency Directive (Directive).
- While the government had already indicated that it would be delaying compliance until 1 January 2027, this is now under review and may now be later.
- The government believes that the Directive is excessively administratively burdensome and it is of the view that the terms of the Directive need targeted and orderly renegotiation.
- It considers that the extent of the Directive's obligations risks undermining its intended gender-equality benefits.
- The government will therefore not be submitting a final bill for implementation at this stage. However, its plans for next steps are not yet known.
