Adjustments to average salaries and minimum wages in Shanghai and Beijing

Minimum wage

From July 2023, the minimum wage in Shanghai increased to RMB 24 per hour and RMB 2,690 per month. In Beijing, the increase was to RMB 26.40 per hour and RMB 2,420 per month. 

Average salary

The average salary in Shanghai has been increased to RMB 12,183, so that the cap applicable to monthly average wages used to calculate statutory severance has been increased to RMB 36,549.

In Beijing, the average salary has been increased to RMB 14,873, and the cap on monthly average wages used to calculate statutory severance has been increased to CNY 44,619.
